The Starlighters Big Band is a 17-piece swingin' big band that plays a variety of styles reminiscent of the 1930's and 1940's ad well as popular vocal standards from the era, as sung by one of our talented vocalists.

The Starlighters Big Band has been in existence since 1978, when it was founded by a group of musicians in the Speedway, Indiana area, headed up by Al Spangler, the Speedway High School Band director, who still plays with the band.  The band is now led by Rod Hodnett.

The Starlighters Big Band has performed for numerous dances and charitable functions as well as the Indiana University Swing Dance Club, Indiana Roof Ballroom Dance Series, Fountain Square Swing Dances, Indy Dancers,

and Columbus Dance Club.  They have also played for numerous USO style dances over the years.

Playing just about any style of music, whether it be Swing, Latin, Waltzes, Foxtrots, and yes......even a few rock & roll tunes, you are assured of a fun evening of danceable, listenable music for your particular occasion.
